Thoughts on NYT coverage of Silicon Valley sexual politics and men creating the internet

I wrote a piece on ForbesWoman yesterday that comments on what I see as the real issue behind this weekend’s debate over a New York Times article titled “Lawsuit Shakes Foundation of Man’s World in Tech,” which was followed by an intro paragraph as follows:
MEN invented the Internet. And not just any men. Men with pocket protectors. Men who idolized Mr. Spock and cried when Steve Jobs died. Nerds. Geeks. Give them their due. Without men, we would never know what our friends were doing five minutes ago.
Clearly this caused some debate, but was that debate constructive? Here’s my answer.
